Handmade by…me!
So this year I decided to try and make most of our Christmas gifts by hand. I’m not super crafty, but I have dreams of being crafty so I thought I’d give it a shot. Don’t ask me why I waited until the year I had a newborn and a 17 month old to care for to do this…apparently I’m not so great with planning. So here is a list of what I created with a few pictures:
For my nephew AJ, he’s 5, I made him a Jedi costume. I had a pattern for an adult and my MIL figured out how to make it size appropriate for a 5 year old. I don’t have a picture, hopefully my sis will send me one of him wearing it. Hopefully it’s a cool gift and he does wear it…
For my 3 gorgeous nieces I made these:

They are a onesie, gerber (though next time I’ll use a higher quality onesie) that I embroidered a little piece onto, those were both cut outs from cute baby flannel patterns and my MIL taught me how to add those little skirts. The skirts go all the way around the onsies, I learned how “gather”. I made the bibs with a pattern my MIL made for me based on bibs I own, and then I made those little draw string bags from this tutorial. My niece Ella also got a hand puppet. My MIL drew me a pattern and walked me through it based on these puppets from Land of Nod that Charley has. It was really easy and fun, I plan to have this be a “go to” project for gifts for little ones. I have patterns for the bunny, the monkey, and the lion. (Are you noticing the theme here of my MIL helping me A LOT? Ha, I told her she has to come visit every year just before the holidays!)
I also made these headbands:
Based on this tutorial here. Super, super easy. Though after trying one out on Charley I don’t think they’re so great for baby girls (sorry nieces!). Better for older girls with long hair.
I made matching pajama pants for my kiddos based on this tutorial, but instead of a t-shirt I used some fleece I’ve had for ages and embroidered a little giraffe on one leg (again, the giraffe was cut out from some cute baby flannel I had, very easy and special looking). I’ll post a picture when I get one of the munchkins wearing them.
Oh, and these cute water toys were fun and easy to make too!! They’re stocking stuffers for my kiddos and some friends of ours.
I also made something for both grandma’s, but I can’t say what yet as they might read this before opening their gifts!
I think that’s everything. I had a few more ideas but ran out of time. I have to admit once I got on a roll it was really, really fun. I have a lot of ideas now, including making the matching jammie pants thing a tradition for my kiddos every year!
Merry Christmas everyone!!
